Definition

Sign-off from China's securities regulator, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, required before a mainland-linked company can list overseas — including on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Why it matters for a secondary

CSRC clearance is often the trigger event that sets a pre-IPO secondary price in motion: Shein's Hong Kong-bound secondary pricing moved within days of its CSRC approval.
